COVID-19 Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Program
Governor Reynolds has allocated federal CARES Act funds to assist Iowans who have been economically impacted by COVID-19 and may be facing housing hardships. This program will provide short-term relief to income-eligible renters and homeowners who are at risk of eviction or foreclosure. Click here for more information.

Student Legal Services
Student Legal Services (SLS) provides free legal advice and low-cost representation to University of Iowa students on a variety of matters including but not limited to: criminal law, landlord/tenant law, small claims, consumer, divorce, and employment. Students can request appointments via the SLS website https://legal.studentlife.uiowa.edu, or by e-mailing student-legal@uiowa.edu.
Staff is currently seeing students via Zoom and regularly posts relevant COVID-19 updates on its website and on social media (@UIStudentLegal).

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) can help you find licensed child care and child development homes though its Child Care Families Provider Search:
DHS also provides information about the three types of licensed child care types, including training and licensing requirements. You also can find reports for all DHS-licensed child care providers.

Federal CARES Act Emergency Grant
UPDATE (5-28-20)
The application for CARES Act Emergency Grant funding which opened on May 4, 2020 is now closed due to the high volume of applications. If you are still in need of financial assistance, you may be able to apply for support through the Dean of Students Emergency Grant. To learn more about this grant option, visit the Dean of Students Student Support Initiatives website.
If you filed a 2019-2020 FAFSA and were awarded federal loans but have not yet accepted the loans, you may still be able to do so. Go to your MyUI Financial Aid To Do List to determine if any documents are still missing for loan consideration.
Agape Café
The Agape Café will serve free, hot, to-go breakfast from 7:30 - 9:00 am every Wednesday morning at Old Brick (26 E Market Street Iowa City).

UI Food Pantry
The food pantry is a free service available for ANY student, staff, or faculty member at the University of Iowa. There are no financial requirements. There are two food pantry locations. The east pantry is located in room 278 of the Iowa Memorial Union. The west pantry is located at the Pride Alliance Center. The food pantry is open every Wednesday at the east pantry for grocery shopping from 11-7 pm, and open every Sunday at the west pantry for food pick-up from 3-5 pm. In order to access these services, it is necessary to reserve an appointment using an online sign up located on the website linked below. Links can be found below.

IC Compassion - Food Pantry
Food pantry is open on Wednesday 9-5 pm, and Thursday 12-6:30 pm. Food distribution process has been changed temporarily. Food will be pre-boxed and then given out at the front desk.
If you are unable to come to the food pantry or are showing signs of illness call 319-519-6165 from 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday for food delivery.
